Alison Maria Krauss - born July 23rd 1971 - is an American bluegrass and country vocalist. She began her career in the industry in the early years, competing in local contests before the age of 10, and making her first recording at 14. The year 1985 saw her signing with Rounder Records. Her first solo album debuted in 1987. She was invited to join the band with who she continues to perform Alison Krauss and Union Station as well as releasing her debut album in the group in the year 1989.
