After being initially drawn by the shadows of trees she spotted in the grass, she spent months studying a method that does not present the object in a two-dimensional form on canvas. The image has been transformed to its own reproduction which is based on the artist's interpretation. It is most effective for objects that are living or items that are perishable like people or fruits. Alexa Meade's style of painting, that is a bit ephemeral in the sense that it is amorphous, transparent. The only thing from her work that is preserved is the photo. Painting and photography are closely connected to form a flat two-dimensional surface that is a trompe l'oeil. At certain locations, three dimensions are seen, for example, around the eye or on the hair. Meade often integrates her painting into the surrounding three-dimensional environment that allows them to interact within the world of their own. Through this, Meade is able to blur the lines between photography, painting and performing.
