Niykee continues to write songs despite having been part of the recent turmoil. She was hand-picked for her participation in YouTube Brandcast by Snoop and the rapper was with her on stage. Her songwriting routine is now an inspiring source for new producers. Niykee is always listening to beats and discovers many songs that inspire her. "I'll be able to tell in the first five minutes if this is a quality beat. Once I've a tune in my mind, I will start writing right away." My guitar is set up on the porch, and I let the lyrics flow. It's usually done within 30 minutes. Niykee is continuing to improve her abilities as a poet and lyricist. She notes how the pain she experienced during her childhood is a constant sources of motivation. The hurt I experienced growing up and losing my younger sister is present in my songs, even though they're not literally. The resulting music is shaped by my experiences and gives it a deeper significance, something I consider very important. I want to be able to listen to my songs in 20 years and still feel proud about the things I've written.
